Energy App Award: Winners selected

The winners of the Energy App Awards have been picked: On the second day of the E-world 2016 trade fair, there was a grand ceremony to presented the prizes to the winners of the App Awards. Stefanie Hamm, Managing Director of E-world energy & water GmbH, presented the winners with their prizes.

Three categories - three winners

The App “Home. Smart Home from here” developed by the Thüga Aktiengesellschaft convinced the panel in the category “Customer Benefit”. With its three modules “Regulate heat”, “Control lights” and “Provide care”, the App enables everyone to control elements of the “Smart Home” simply and intuitively. It therefore not only creates a good room temperature and pleasant atmosphere at home, but also provides information on the wellbeing of relatives who require care.

The winner in the “innovation” category is “Open Energy Exchange OEEX” developed by OEEX GmbH. The App reveals when a particularly large quantity of energy from renewable sources is being produced near the user. Users can then adapt their behaviour to suit, and schedule power consumption for washing machines, spin-driers or tumble-driers at precisely these times. This then relieves pressure on the supply network.

“Hyko”, the winning App from CareToSave in the category “Future Concept”, ultimately offers something for the whole family. Complex energy-related topics are presented in game format. Users learn through exciting competitions and informative statistics how energy can be used with greater awareness, so that they can adapt their own lifestyles.

Prize-giving ceremony

The Energy App Award was presented for the first time at E-world energy & water. All finalists were invited to the ceremony. The finalists in all three categories were presented to the public in short films. RWE AG’s stand at the trade fair was equipped by them with a special stage, where the winners were happy to be presented with their awards.

The winners in the Customer Benefit and Innovation categories receive an App Promotion Workshop from Google. The winner in the Future Concept category receives a prize of 5,000 Euros.

About the Energy App Award

The popularity of smartphones and tablets have paved the way for apps: more and more people use apps to find information, for shopping or in their daily work. This development is also becoming increasingly important in the area of energy. An increasing number of companies in the energy industry are using App-based customer communication. The Energy App Award is intended to recognise this, and to reward digital solutions which are particularly customer-friendly.

E-world energy & water GmbH launched the Energy App Award jointly with con|energy, RWE, Google and Green Economy WirtschaftsWoche (German weekly business magazine)
