Smart Cities - Concept of the future

Designing cities to be more efficient, technologically more advanced and greener is one of the main challenges of the next few years, and offers diverse opportunities for the energy industry. The conference on “Smart Infrastructure for Smart Cities”, which had its premiere at E-world 2017, was dedicated to this hot topic. Speakers presented various solutions and projects on many aspects of “Smart Cities”. The conference was opened by Christian Kulick, Area Manager Smart Home & Smart City at BITKOM. He explained how digital solutions can create a Smart City 2.0. Christoffer Greisen, Project Manager at the pilot project EnergyLab, presented already existing solutions for urban energy infrastructure, and how these interact. Dr. Bernd Koch, Head of Decentralised Energy Systems at Siemens AG, then presented intelligent solutions for the city of tomorrow. To finish with, sustainable mobility in public transport and transparency as the precursor to energy efficiency were the focus of talks by Bilfinger Efficiency and ABB.

To pick up on this trend, and give more space to the presentation of intelligent solutions for cities, E-world will next year take place under the banner “Smart City”.
