From January 2025, utilities across the European Union are required to offer dynamic electricity tariffs, fundamentally changing the way energy costs are structured. Unlike static pricing, where energy prices remain predictable, dynamic tariffs fluctuate based on demand, time of day and renewable energy availability. While this shift incentivises flexibility and supports the integration of renewables, it introduces complexity into the energy market.
At the same time, the Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG) in Germany is raising the bar for energy efficiency and management practices on the consumer side. Companies with an annual consumption of more than 7.5 GWh will have to comply with ISO 50001, and those with an annual consumption of more than 2.77 GWh will have to implement energy efficiency measures in accordance with DIN EN 17462 based on capital efficiency assessments.
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are particularly affected by these changes, which represent both a challenge and an opportunity. They often lack the resources to take full advantage of and align their operations with periods of low-cost energy and high renewable energy prodcution. At the same time they need to implemet strategies and tools to comply with the new regulations. However, with the right Energy Management System (EMS), SMEs can do this and buy energy to lower prices than currently.
Apollo Green Solution's energy management solution, aenergi, provides the comprehensive, cost competitive and easy-to-implement solution SMEs need to navigate this new energy landscape. By providing real-time insights and automated reporting, our platform enables businesses to strategically transform their energy consumption and profit from the dynamic tariffs.
