Focus on Smart City

Organising cities in a more efficient, technologically more advanced and more sustainable way is a central challenge for the next few years and is offering diverse chances for the international energy industry. As the premier fair, E world energy & water 2018 is therefore focusing on the Smart City subject - with the aim of consolidating the future fields of the sector: At E world energy & water which is taking place at Messe Essen from February 6 to 8, both established companies and start-ups are presenting themselves to the expert world.

E world is continuing further on its growth and innovation courses. In 2017, it already registered records with 710 exhibitors (in 2018: around 750) and around 25,000 international trade visitors. The proportion of companies from the Smart Energy area (i.e. nearly 20 percent) has grown even further in 2018. Moreover, a large number of young companies, universities, research institutes and start-ups are again introducing their products and services on the joint area called "E world Innovation". The exhibitors at this year's E world energy & water include global players and market leaders such as innogy, E.ON, Shell, Bosch, Engie, Siemens and Veolia.

Intelligent Solutions for the City of the Future

The advancing digitalisation will alter cities and conurbations in a lasting way: Attention is centring on the integration of electricity and heat, efficient buildings and electric transport into an intelligent, flexible and optimised overall system. In order to present intelligent solutions to these challenges, E world 2018 is focusing on the "Smart City" topic for the first time.
Around the four topics of Mobility, Heat, Networks and Buildings, there is a diverse supporting programme. In numerous lectures and discussions, international projects and initiatives for intelligent urban planning are being introduced and concrete solution approaches are being discussed. The existing Energy Transition, Smart Tech and Innovation Forums are being supplemented by the Finance & Trading Forum.

Trade Fair is Promoting Young Companies in a Targeted Way

The constantly growing number of international exhibitors and a trade visitor proportion of over 98 percent are emphasising the high level and significance of the premier fair as an information platform in the energy sector. At E world, both established companies and start-ups are introducing their innovative solutions - e.g. technologies for intelligent energy transmission and storage as well as for the integration and networking of prosumers. The fair is also focusing on supporting young companies. In a targeted way, the "E world Innovation" exhibition area is offering founders of firms the chance to establish important contacts to investors and representatives of industry: 77 percent of the trade visitors are decision takers.
