nexo Smart Building – Veolia Uses nexo for Heat Management

Energy costs are rising. The rational use of resources is becoming a challenge for users and managers of offices and facilities. The larger and more complex the building structures, the more complex energy management becomes.

With the nexo app, smart thermostats and other devices can be controlled automatically throughout an entire building or building complex. The manager has full control over the intelligent (smart) devices installed in the rooms. nexo makes it possible to create temperature schedules for a single room or a group of rooms. This means that rooms are only heated during times of use. The problem of heated “empty” rooms in offices and public facilities such as schools or universities is solved. At the same time, heating comfort is ensured during working hours.

nexo gives the administrator an overview of the detailed data provided by the thermostats and temperature. The data is presented in user-friendly graphs using state-of-the-art solutions. The data provided allows a detailed analysis of a selected time interval: day, week or month, as required. There is no need to collect data manually or enter it into different systems. With nexo, it is collected, stored and presented in one place. nexo is quick and easy to install and is suitable for almost all assets.

nexo customers are mainly energy service providers, utilities and plant operators. Veolia, a leading global energy provider, is already using nexo for its innovative, successful heat efficiency service. The company is undergoing an energy transition and is investing heavily in new services, technologies and infrastructure to reduce its carbon footprint. This heat efficiency service is made possible by nexo and the use of a LoRaWAN network for the entire building (10 apartments) with MClimate Vicki smart thermostats and temperature sensors installed in each apartment. Following the success of the first heating season, which saw a 20% reduction in heating costs, Veolia extended this service to commercial properties such as hotels, office buildings and educational establishments. There, even greater savings are achieved through schedule-based, selective room heating.

nexo offers many other tried and tested applications. These include energy services such as submetering, control of PV systems and dynamic energy tariffs.
