Atos and Google Cloud at the E-world: Green solutions for smart cities

Essen, 10 February 2020 – Atos, a global leader in digital transformation, is presenting solutions for the "green smart city" at E-world (February 11-13 in Essen) together with its preferred public Cloud partner Google Cloud. Sustainable and secure technologies, services and infrastructures are crucial for the success of the energy turnaround. Visitors at the Atos stand (Hall 5, Stand 214) can amongst others, visit a mini-laboratory for artificial intelligence (AI) and get an idea of autonomous drones, intelligent street lamps and the advantages of the digital workplace.

Kai Drücker, Head of Telco, Media & Utilities at Atos in Germany, explains where journey is headed: "Without digitalization, there will be no successful and at the same time cost-efficient energy turnaround. The future of the utilities business is AI based. I look forward to discussing this vision with our customers and Google Cloud using concrete applications in the mini-laboratory at the show. ".

Green and smart: the digitalization of energy

Atos & Google Cloud show energy companies at E-world how they can use AI to evaluate and interpret data from the Internet of Things (IoT). In the mini-laboratory for AI, they can find out initial approaches to solving their challenges and experience live how raw data can be intelligently analysed. In addition, the following use cases will be on display:

  • Autonomous drones: Lower costs, higher efficiency and more sustainability - these are the main advantages of drones during maintenance missions. Using image recognition methods, they can easily detect signs of damage to energy systems, evaluate them and immediately communicate them to the operator.
  • Intelligent street lighting: Intelligent street lighting is a cornerstone on the road to a green smart city. It provides light only when needed, which can save up to 80 percent electricity and reduce maintenance costs by 50 percent.
  • Digital Workplace Solutions: The digital workplace increases company-wide efficiency and optimizes work processes. The spectrum of solutions ranges from collaboration tools to help and interaction center applications.
  • Green Sourcing: IT infrastructures powered by renewable energies - whether on-premises or in the cloud - make a major contribution to the sustainability of the entire company.

On the first day of the fair, 11 February at 2 p.m., Ursula Morgenstern, CEO of Atos Germany, will take part in a panel discussion on "Green Energy Supply for the Future" (Smart Tech Forum, Hall 5).
