E-world Kick-off informs about data security in the energy industry

Essen, February 8, 2023

Day three shifts the focus to the security risks of a digitized energy supply

At the end of the digital E-world Kick-off on February 16, 2023, three panels manned by international experts will be dedicated to the topic of data security in the energy industry. This is a topic that is rapidly gaining relevance worldwide as the digitalization of energy supply continues. Players from all areas of the energy system are confronted with an increasing number of acts of sabotage and data theft. Developing security concepts to protect sensitive data and identifying vulnerabilities has become a key task for companies. Europe's leading trade fair for the energy industry will provide an opportunity for intensive exchange on information security issues both at the E-world Kick-off in February and at the trade fair from May 23 to 25. Participation in the digital event is free of charge.

From resilience to cloud applications: a broad spectrum of data security topics

The program of the third day of the event will begin with a keynote address at 10:15 a.m. after a welcome address. The organizers have secured the services of Elad Shaviv from Israel Electric Corporation, Israel's largest energy supplier. Israel is considered a leader in IT security and Elad Shaviv is a luminary in his field. He will speak about the resilience of critical infrastructures.

This will be followed by a panel discussion on how to ensure data security in cloud applications. Digital cloud services are increasingly becoming the norm. Still, many companies wonder how secure their data can be in external storage and how to best protect themselves. Starting at 10:25 a.m., company representatives will exchange views on this with moderator Danny Waldmann (Accenture). Andreas Lange (CURSOR Software AG), Torsten Schekat (EnBW Cyber Security) and Klaus Mochalski (Rhebo GmbH) have already confirmed their participation in the panel.

As a further program item, participants can then look forward to a panel on the topic of "The future now: opportunities of data-driven applications for a good energy future". Clemens Pompeӱ (Prototype Club GmbH) will discuss with Michael von Roeder (Elia Group & CDIO 50Hertz) and Knut Hechtfischer (decarbon1ze) and outline positive effects of intelligent systems.

Further theme days on the future electricity system and a climate-neutral gas economy

Already on February 14 and 15, the E-world Kick-off will highlight current topics in the energy industry and show perspectives for the future. The first day is dedicated to the future energy supply. Among others, Dr. Roman Dudenhausen (conenergy AG) will discuss with Tobias Federico (Engerybrainpool), Tim Meyerjürgens (Tennet TSO B.V.), Klaus Müller (Federal Network Agency) and Sonja Müller-Dib (Shell Energy in Germany) the question of how the conversion to a green electricity system can succeed. Ways to the climaticneutral gas economy are the emphasis on 15 February. Current developments in the European gas market will be analyzed, as well as the effects of the current crisis on the gas market and gas phase-out. Moderator Dr. Heiko Lohmann (energy journalist) welcomes among others James Watson (Eurogas), Dr. Thomas Gößmann (Thyssengas), Dr. Egbert Laege (SEFE) and Dr. Sopna Sury (RWE Generation SE).

On all three days of the event, participants will have the opportunity to network after the program. Free registration for the E-world Kick-off is possible in the E-world Community. On the digital platform, visitors will not only find a broad program of online events, but also current information on E-world energy & water such as the floor plan and the exhibitor list.
