Presentation of the Digital Energy Award at E world energy & water 2018

From analog to digital: Hardly any other sector is being subjected to such a fundamental change as the energy industry. Intelligent (and, above all, digital) solutions are needed in order to exploit the potentials of smart grids, increases in efficiency and regenerative energy production to the full. The Digital Energy Award is distinguishing three of these solutions in the "Customer Engagement", "New Business Models" and "Lean Operations" categories. The winners are the energy supplier gridX, MeteoViva GmbH and NOVUM engineering GmbH. The Digital Energy Award is being presented on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, within the framework of E‑world energy & water.

Victor in the "Customer Engagement" Category: gridX

gridX is an energy supplier which is bringing private electricity consumers and electricity producers together on a digital platform. Thus, the company is offering a solution to the energy supply of the future with which locally generated, clean electricity is marketed just as locally. In addition, the customers have full transparency about the electricity consumption. With the completely digital solution, gridX has prepared itself for the Electricity Market 2.0.

Victor in the "Lean Operations" Category: MeteoViva Climate

MeteoViva GmbH has designed an intelligent climate control system for the Dominium group headquarters of the Generali insurance company in Cologne. The optimisation of the heating as well as of the air conditioning and ventilation technologies is leading to a cost saving of 26 percent. Moreover, the insurance company is improving its climate footprint. Because of the high savings, the new climate control system will already pay for itself after just 1.7 years.

Victor in the "New Business Models" Category: Novum ThermoTape

The ThermoTape from NOVUM engineering is a pragmatic and reliable way of monitoring the filling levels of thermal storage units. The tape is simply stuck on the thermal storage unit from the outside and records the temperature continuously. In this respect, the measurement extends over the entire storage unit and, unlike the three-point method until now, is not restricted to just a few points. An integrated software package permits the digital smart metering of the filling level of the storage unit. Thus, it is also possible to draw conclusions about the current consumption of the heating network without any additional heat meters.

Energy App Award Until Now in a New Guise

Until last year, the Digital Energy Award was conferred as the Energy App Award for promising app solutions from the energy field. The transformation is taking account of the fundamental change in the energy industry. A renowned, eight-strong expert jury assessed the submitted projects according to the "Technology", "Concept", "Business Impact" and "Story" criteria. The jury included: Dr. Roman Dudenhausen, CEO of con|energy ag; Carl-Ernst Giesting, Senior Vice President of innogy SE; Stefanie Hamm, Managing Director of E‑world energy & water GmbH; Markus Hinz, Sales Director of Google Germany; Markus Mühlbauer, Product Manager Lead for the Corporate Engineering of Google Germany; Jens Michael Peters, COO of eprimo and Head of Digital innogy Germany; Kuldip Singh, Digital Director of innogy Retail; and Veit Schwerm, Managing Director of ener|xess - a company belonging to the con|energy group.
