Discuss current challenges, strategies and developments at eye level with your colleagues from the management of the energy sector, industry and politics. The Leadership Meeting Energy is being held together by Süddeutscher Verlag Veranstaltungen GmbH and E-world energy & water for the eleventh time.

Bundled in one afternoon, the energy turnaround to date will be subjected to a critical review including an outlook for the future, and you will also have ample opportunity for expert discussions and networking. The Süddeutsche Zeitung accompanies the event as a media partner and once again provides the moderator of the congress: Benedikt Müller-Arnold from the business editorial department asks our high-ranking speakers critical questions that now move the industry.

Please note: The conference will be held in German.

In this workshop, we will show you the most diverse types of digitization projects at municipal utilities. Because we want to make digitization tangible. To this end, we will start with a presentation by make better, which will use various examples to show why it is not simply a good solution that is key to success, but also the people behind it. clarifydata will then show how the megatrend "artificial intelligence" can be turned into real benefits.

Three municipal utilities will then show their orientation in sales at different levels of maturity. Stadtwerke Landsberg understands its IT strategy holistically and relies on all solutions communicating closely with each other. Stadtwerke SH makes customer segmentation the relevant key figure for successful key accounting and Stadtwerke Kiel has already been using artificial intelligence for customer-specific consulting content for several years.

The workshop concludes with a discussion of the latest developments in the field of sales and marketing.

Climate targets will profoundly change the business models of municipal utilities and other energy suppliers and grid operators. Renewable electricity generation as well as heat supply must be massively expanded, and electricity grids must be extended to cope with a rising consumption. Gas sales based on fossil gas will have no future and the gas grids will have to be converted to hydrogen and other green gases or the gas grid infrastructure will have to be challenged in the long term. This will require other technologies, new business models and funding.

In this event, we would like to analyse the challenges and options related to the goal of climate neutrality by 2045. The electricity, gas and heat sectors with the value creation stages of generation, grids and distribution will be examined. Controversial topics such as the use of hydrogen for building heat and the possibilities and limits of grid expansion for electricity and heat will also be addressed.

The role of municipal utilities in fibre optic expansion is the focus of this year's Fibre Optic Forum. Special attention will be paid to the effects of the new Federal Telecommunications Act (Telekommunikationsgesetz (TKG)) on the industry. Top speakers from politics, trade associations and municipal utilities with broadband experience will report on initial experiences with the implementation of the law as well as on procedures and opportunities when entering the new business field.

More and more energy suppliers and municipal utilities are adding broadband supply to their portfolio of services in their respective catchment areas. In order to support utilities and municipal utilities in successfully integrating this new pillar into their product diversity, the Fibre Optic Forum is open an innovative information and networking format.

Due to the strong growth in electric vehicles and charging infrastructure as well as the participation of prosumers in the electricity market, the grid integration of electromobility is becoming increasingly important. Companies as well as municipalities converting their fleets are faced with the challenge of planning their charging infrastructure and management as well as avoiding pitfalls with simultaneous self-supply and the necessary delimitation of electricity quantities. From a sales perspective, user-friendly and at the same time economically viable products are required to pick up the different target groups in order for new mobility services to succeed.

The workshop combines an overview of current legal issues in the field of electromobility with concrete suggestions for operational implementation. The experts of Becker Büttner Held will give an update on current challenges and present options for action and approaches to solutions.

The workshop is aimed at managers and employees in companies who implement mobility topics in the public and private sectors. The target group includes energy suppliers and mobility service providers as well as municipalities and companies that are converting to e-vehicles and charging infrastructure at their locations.

The enthusiasm for hydrogen is unbroken in the German, European and international energy industry. The possible applications and the associated potential for avoiding greenhouse gas emissions also for the neighbouring sectors of industry, transport and housing make the energy carrier interesting for many players. This is all the more true when it comes to green hydrogen from renewable energies.

Catalysed by hydrogen strategies and funding programmes at all political levels, an extensive panorama of feasibility studies, model projects and scaling-up projects has emerged over the past year and a half. But which of the expectations for the energy carrier are realistic? Which areas of application are not only theoretically but also practically feasible? What demand results from the hydrogen projects and how can it be met?

The Hydrogen Forum at E-world 2022 sets out to answer these questions in discussion with important players in the developing European and German hydrogen economy.

The Federal Climate Protection Act (Klimaschutzgesetz (KSG)) has also set ambitious emission reduction targets for the building sector. Building owners can achieve these targets through a combination of three measures. First and foremost are the renovation of the building's energy envelope and the use of innovative technology, possibly in combination with a change of energy source. The first measure in particular is extremely cost-intensive. And: energy efficiency measures alone will not enable the building sector to achieve the sector target. Therefore, renewable energies must increasingly be used in the heat supply. A reliable green energy path for all energy sources (electricity, district and local heating and also gas) is the be-all and end-all.

The housing and energy sectors must therefore reflect on their long-standing partnership and renew it, because while the housing sector needs a reliable green energy path to achieve its goals, the energy sector is dependent on long-term and reliable supplier relationships with the housing sector. In order to hedge the quite high investment cost risks of the energy industry, the energy industry is interested in long-term and also dynamic contracts that enable variable pricing according to cost increases.

In order to create a win-win situation out of this constellation, a new edition of the partnership between the housing and energy industries is needed. The conference at E-world offers room for dialogue between the two sectors.
