Renewable energy communities: implementation, impact, chances
The Clean Energy Package, in particular the recast Renewable Energy Directive, will open up new opportunities for European energy communities. For the first time, the new regulation formally addresses them, granting energy communities new rights and allowing a broad scope of activities. The upcoming transposition into the national law and the following implementation raise many questions: How can the interested parties be best incentivized? In what way will these developments influence existing business models? Which chances arise out of the implementation for the stakeholders involved? The discussion will accompany the path of future implementation from the motivation through the impact on the current market towards long-term chances in the future.
