The Energy Transition Forum was again part of the Smart Energy topic area at E-world 2018. In 55 expert presentaions, the forum focused on current challenges and developments in the energy transition - including energy efficiency, sector coupling and storage methods.
The Energy Transition Forum was opened by the network for energy-saving meters Smartnet Energy: 14 members of the network presented their business models for smart meters for various end customers, from households to businesses to industrial applications. In the “Smart City: Building” and “Smart City: Mobility sessions, the focus was on the main topic of E-world 2018: solutions for smart buildings were presented, and pioneering transport solutions were discussed.
The topic of “Blockchain” aroused great interest
The topic “Blockchain in the energy industry - potential for energy providers” attracted a particularly large audience to the forum in Hall 6. The speakers, Prof. Dr. Jens Strüker from INEWI and Viktor Peter from BDEW, drew crowds of visitors to their lecture on the study “Blockchain in the energy industry” on the second day of the trade fair. The focus of research is the integration of Blockchain technologies in the energy industry, and its future potential for energy providers.
On the last day of the trade fair, BEE looked towards the future of the energy industry: the speakers discussed new business models developing from current trends with visitors, such as sector coupling, digitisation and increasing flexibility.
